the right font can really add something to your page. For example:
may be exactly right for your creation .......
..... is nice as well.
The problem is that unless everybody else has these fonts (Zombie and Lansbury) on their computer, all they are going to see is some really ugly font like Times Roman or whatever the default font is on their computer.
So how can I be sure that you are looking at 'my' page with the fonts that I want??
It's no good including the tag <font face="absolutely_magnificent_font"> because that font may not be on your computer!! Solution - always use default font faces included in the font face definitions .... <font face="absolutely_awesome_font, arial, helvetica">. Then, just in case my visitors don't have the absolutely_awesome font, at least they will see my page in a nice clear default font. Arial and Helvetica are very similar (one is always on Windows PCs and the other is always on Macs).
But you want your headings to really stand out.
You could use the table trick used here. The 'heading' is the same font, but it's in a table of its own with a fancy background. Quick and simple. How was that done? Click the right mouse button and view the page source to see .....
don't like that idea? well, you can always colorize the text.
.
If that does the trick for you then HTML Font Colorizer is the freeware you need. But not from here, surf 'n' search it out for yourself :)
The safest way to use 'exotic' fonts is to make them into images (like the HOME, FEEDBACK, etc. links at the top of this page). Then since the font you want becomes part of an image -- everybody sees it the way you wanted them to.
... and the last word on fonts is ....
But suppose, the entire artistic impression will be lost unless your visitors have the same font as you designed for your page? Then you need to offer an explanation to your visitors, tell them the font that the page was designed for -- and let them download it from your site.
Sample statement: This site was designed to look best using a font called
- one of my favourite 'funny' fonts. If you would like to use Jester on your computer, please click here to download it (TTF version - 37 kbyte zip file).
