Why do you need to read this first?

Simple. I don't want you to download any of the scripts unless you're sure you can really use them. There's no magic involved, but there are three important concepts you need to understand first:

These scripts are written in php. When you 'paste' a php snippet into an html file it won't do anything unless you rename your page(s) with the .php extension.
Most of these scripts use a MySQL database. While the script packages include the necessary SQL query to allow you to create the database table needed, you need access to something like phpMyAdmin on your server to do it. If you don't know how to do that, it's unlikely you'll succeed with these scripts.
These scripts are free. That means you are responsible for getting them to work, not me. They all work direct from the zip file if you follow the simple instructions. I don't respond to emails asking for help. It's all in the documentation files in the download!

Read this next

Assuming that you think you want to use one of the scripts, go ahead and try it. Please don't send emails asking questions about things that are blindingly obvious from the demo pages linked from each script description page. Both of us have better things to do with our time. If you've tried the script demo, then take a moment and read the install file which is also linked to each script description page.

One more thing ...

You're quite welcome to change the folder structure to suit your own purposes. You're quite welcome to stick something into a frame or iframe to suit your purposes. Those are your decisions. Just don't complain when you get a 'page not found error'. Use the scripts as intended.
